Math for Maker’s Series: GAUGE
- Description
This year we are taking our much-loved Math for Knitters class and breaking it up by topic for a more in-depth discussion (not to mention easier to digest!) and opening it up to crocheters as well.
We are excited for this first installment to discuss something that every maker runs into with nearly every project: the dreaded gauge! We’ll talk about what it is, when to worry about it, how to achieve it, what to do when you don’t, and why it might not be such a bad thing if you just can’t seem to get it exactly right. You’re sure to learn something new. This is a great class for someone just getting into garment making, or someone who has been there and done that, but wants to polish up the skill. Rest easy knowing that the next sweater you make will not only fit, but fit just the way you want it to.
You’ll Learn:
-
How to create a swatch that tells you what you need to know
-
How to measure and calculate your gauge from your swatch
-
How to adjust when you can’t get gauge
-
What to do when your stitch gauge is on, but your row gauge is off
-
Why getting gauge isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and how math can solve your problems
