Alyssum Sweater

This stunning A-line sweater will earn you all the compliments as you conquer new colorwork, gauge, and ladderback float techniques. This sweater can be made in either DK or worsted, and looks incredible as an oversized cozy piece, or a more fitted, cropped sweater. We love it either way! Join us for this adventurous knit, we’ll shop for yarn during the first class after discussing gauge and fit options, during the second class we’ll work on mastering colorwork and ladderback jacquard methods, our optional third class will serve as a check-in/problem-solving session, and our final session we’ll discuss picking up stitches under the arm for the sleeve. We’re sure you’ll love this class, the lovely sweater you create, and the techniques you learn from it!

You’ll Learn:

• Math techniques to knit a sweater at your natural gauge

• Adding optional short row shaping

• Managing tension with colorwork

• Color dominance

• Catching long floats with the Ladderback Jacquard method - we will cover where to place them, why they change everything in addition to the technique of working them. 

• Picking up underarm stitches without big holes.

Skills Required: 

• Basic knitting skills, with some colorwork experience. 

Materials Needed:

• Pattern cost/printing included in class cost.

• DK or worsted weight yarn purchased from Seed Stitch Store according to pattern specifications - WE WILL DISCUSS THIS DURING OUR FIRST CLASS, YOU DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE YARN BEFOREHAND.

• As we will be discussing yarn options in the first class, you might want to bring several sizes of needles to play around with - the pattern suggests DK or worsted weight and US 10 (6.0 mm), but mine was knit with fingering and a US 5 needle. I suggest bringing several options to start a swatch with!
