Mastering Colorwork Workshop

We love stranded colorwork, but it can be a challenge for many knitters. Floats that are too short or too long, it can be hard to get it just right. We’ll cover several ways to hold your yarn, two-handed, with a tension ring, or throwing, any method you choose, you can be a great colorwork knitter! We’ll discuss color dominance, how to pick two colors that complement one another, picking up floats, and managing extra long floats with the Ladderback Jacquard Method. It’s an all in one masterclass of colorwork and you’re sure to learn something new. 

You’ll Learn:

• Basic color theory and how to pick colors that complement one another

• How to have great tension no matter how you hold your yarn

• Color dominance - it matters!

• How to trap floats

• For extra long floats – how to work the Ladderback Jacquard Method.

Skills Required: Proficient knitting/purling, even tension when working with one color

Materials Needed/Homework: Bring a swatch or project where you are ready to work with two colors. If working a swatch we’ll want to work in the round (how you often encounter colorwork in a sweater) I’d recommend something at least 10 inches in continuous circumference, or at least 5 inches wide when working with long floats (always starting from the right side).
